THE LINE BEGINS ABOVE THE KNEE
A trouser is not solved at the hem. Its vertical reading begins at the waist, passes through the seat and thigh, and only then reaches the shoe. A clean hem cannot rescue a disturbed line above it.
Rise affects where the jacket and trouser meet. Width controls how fabric travels. Break decides how that movement concludes.
SPACE TO FALL
Cloth needs enough room to fall rather than cling, but excess without control creates another interruption. The useful question is not whether a trouser is slim or wide. It is whether the line remains coherent while the wearer stands and moves.
THE SHOE AS FULL STOP
The shoe finishes the sentence. Hem width, break and footwear must be read together. When they agree, the leg looks continuous; when they fight, the eye stops at the ankle.
