LIGHT REVEALS THE DIFFERENCE
Black changes with weave, surface and environment. A smooth cloth can return a hard highlight; a more textured surface breaks light into softer variations. Under daylight, some blacks move toward charcoal. Others carry a blue or brown undertone.
This is not inconsistency. It is the material becoming visible.
MIDNIGHT
Midnight blue can read almost black in low light, then disclose its colour as illumination changes. That controlled shift gives it a different depth from flat black without making blue the first message.
BUILDING A DARK IMAGE
When jacket, trouser, shoe and background all sit in the same dark range, texture and edge become important. The aim is not to add noise. It is to give each surface enough separation to remain legible.
